Yaakov Cohen
LMSW
Primary Therapist
Yaakov Cohen is a Licensed Master Social Worker with a Master’s Degree from Touro University in New York. In his 7 years of experience, he has had the opportunity to work with those who were suffering from addictive disorders as well as other co-occurring mental health disorders in Partial Hospitalization programs (PHP), Intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and outpatient care facilities. He is now excited to join our team where he will offer his expertise in the treatment of sexual addiction as the newest co-leader for our Men’s Relapse Prevention Group.
In an ongoing effort to remain a student and expand his knowledge base, Yaakov has been accepted as our most recent candidate to become the next Certified Relapse Prevention NavigatorTM (CRPNTM) where he is receiving direct supervision from the co-founders of the relapse prevention model, John Leadem and Shawn Leadem. During this certification process, he will become an expert in educating and guiding others through a relapse prevention model that he has found to be most effective at helping addicted individuals intervene on one’s relapse process.
Yaakov comes to this position with an understanding that sobriety cannot be lost only surrendered and has seen this decision be made by addicted individuals who are at the end of a painful process fraught with unsuccessful attempts to cope adequately with the discomfort they are experiencing. More importantly, he comes to this position with sensitivity, compassion and empathy for those who have been impacted by addiction and other mental health disorders.
